The Arts Society Blackwater was established in March 1971, formed as Blackwater Decorative and Fine Arts Society (BDFAS), a local branch of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Society (NADFAS).

The Society was formed for those people who were interested in decorative and fine arts, to listen to lectures from experts in their field and generally to encourage a wider interest in the arts.

We celebrated our delayed 50th anniversary in July 2022. Over the 50 years the membership of the Society has grown, and our lectures have covered a wide spectrum from the origins of Monopoly to talks on individual artists.

As a member of The Arts Society, Blackwater arranges visits to historic houses, gardens, museums and galleries. London and the Home Counties are suitable for day visits by coach together with pre-arranged entry to houses and special exhibitions.

In addition, we have extended tours in the UK and mainland Europe by coach with an arranged itinerary and accommodation included.
