2025
The Church Recording Book for All Saints Church Little Totham has now been completed by our Society's team of Church Recorders led by Grace Waight and her dedicated team of supporters. In view of Grace Waight's death recently the Wardens of Little Totham Church and our Society had a celebration of the completion of the book and gave thanks to all those who contributed to the production of "Record of Church Furnishings for All Saints Church Little Totham". The Service of Celebration was held on 20 July 2025.
Digital/laser copies were sent to National Art Library at Victoria & Albert Museum, and the County Record Office, Church Care Library, an English Heritage Archive. Archivists, researchers and academics find the Records invaluable.
This Church Record can assist in the event of loss due to theft or serious damage. This makes the recorders feel they are making a worthwhile contribution.
There are no plans at present to produce another volume.

2019-2021
In 2019 The Arts Society held a Volunteering Impact Review. The results of that review were announced on 28 January 2020. It was decided that Church Recording would not be supported beyond the end of 2020 by the central office of The Arts Society. Groups wishing to continue after that date must get the agreement of their host society as for example from The Blackwater Arts Society.
As a result of the above the review the Church Recording Society was set up as a registered charity on 4 January 2021. The Blackwater church recording group is a member of that Society.
The original aims of Church Recording under the Arts Society banner were to produce, to a specific format, a comprehensive Record,
including photographs of the furnishings, artefacts and fabric of the church including stained glass, sculptures, tombs, books, furniture or decorative and historical items. It offers volunteers the opportunity to make a contribution to the preservation, protection and the recognition of the heritage within churches. Working in a dedicated team and collaborating with professionals when doing research gives great satisfaction and a genuine sense of achievement.
Church recording is much more than just listing artefacts as the small team of Blackwater recorders and photographer have found. They became very involved and enjoyed researching the background and history of the items.
