Welcome to The Arts Society Blackwater

The Arts Society Blackwater is a member of The Arts Society, a leading arts education charity which brings people together through a shared curiosity for the arts.

The Arts Society Blackwater presents lectures given by experts with specialist knowledge about the arts.  Our monthly lectures start at 11am on the first Thursday in the month (second Thursday in May) between October and July, at Wickham Bishops Village Hall, Essex CM8 3JZ. Refreshments are served from 10.30am.

The Arts Society Blackwater also arranges one-day visits to cultural venues together with longer tours in the UK.  The Society supports Young Arts in the area and has provided volunteer stewards for the Maeldune Centre, Maldon Museum and volunteers to conserve books at the historic Plume Library.

The Society has a membership of more than 180 and the subscription fee for the 2026-27 season is £58 per person. Non members can attend up to three lectures during a season at a cost of £8 per lecture. New members are very welcome - we also offer a free invitation to attend a lecture before signing up.
